Studies this site relies on

Ordered by strength of design. Conclusions are quoted verbatim from each abstract as indexed by PubMed; read the full paper before relying on any of them.

  1. Randomized trial Ann N Y Acad Sci · 2007 PMID 17495250

Thymosin beta-4 and venous ulcers: clinical remarks on a European prospective, randomized study on safety, tolerability, and enhancement on healing

    Guarnera G, DE Rosa A, Camerini R

The study is ongoing and a total of 21 patients have been enrolled so far in the first treatment group at the lower dose. Patients' compliance and motivated and well-trained teams seem to be the most suitable parameters of a successfully conducted study.

  2. Primary study Clin Ophthalmol · 2015 PMID 26056426

Thymosin beta 4 ophthalmic solution for dry eye: a randomized, placebo-controlled, Phase II clinical trial conducted using the controlled adverse environment (CAE™) model

    Sosne G, Ousler GW

This study confirms the efficacy of 0.1% Tβ4 as a topical treatment for relief of signs and symptoms of dry eye. Significant improvements in both signs and symptoms of dry eye were observed, and the treatment exhibited a large safety window, with no adverse events reported by any subjects enrolled in the study.

  3. Primary study Drug Test Anal · 2012 PMID 22962027

Synthesis and characterization of the N-terminal acetylated 17-23 fragment of thymosin beta 4 identified in TB-500, a product suspected to possess doping potential

Esposito S, Deventer K, Goeman J, et al.

This work describes the detection and the identification of the N-terminal acetylated 17-23 fragment of human thymosin beta 4 (Ac-LKKTETQ) in TB-500 by means of high-performance liquid chromatography/high resolution mass spectrometry using an Orbitrap Exactive benchtop mass spectrometer. Ac-LKKTETQ was also synthesized by solid-phase …

Doping control analysis of TB-500, a synthetic version of an active region of thymosin β₄, in equine urine and plasma by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry

Ho EN, Kwok WH, Lau MY, et al.

This method was successful in confirming the presence of N-acetylated LKKTETQ and its metabolites in equine urine and plasma collected from horses administered with a single dose of TB-500 (containing 10mg of N-acetylated LKKTETQ). To our knowledge, this is the first identification of TB-500 and its metabolites in post-administration …

Thymosin beta 4 and the eye: the journey from bench to bedside

    Sosne G

Expert opinion: The electrifying possibility of Tβ4 as a revolutionary novel dry eye therapy is something that could have only been dreamed about just a few years ago. We believe that Tβ4 eyedrops will help many patients suffering from several ocular surface related disorders.
