About Residue
An evidence-graded reference for peptide science.
Peptides are discussed everywhere and documented almost nowhere in one place. Approved drugs such as semaglutide sit next to research compounds with no human data, and the difference is often blurred by the people selling them. Residue exists to make that difference visible.
Each monograph answers the same questions in the same order: what the compound is, how it is thought to work, what human and animal studies found, what FDA has said, and where the open questions are. Each carries an evidence grade from A to D, defined in our methodology.
What does Residue cover?
Residue currently has 25 compound monographs, 14 side-by-side comparisons and 7 class overviews, along with an FDA status tracker, a glossary and downloadable data files. Where a compound has enough registered studies, its monograph links to a trials page listing every ClinicalTrials.gov record, and where trials report doses it links to a table of the doses they tested.
Where does the data come from?
Every claim is tied to a primary record: PubMed abstracts, ClinicalTrials.gov registrations, PubChem compound records, Drugs@FDA applications and prescribing information via openFDA, and FDA's compounding lists. A build script fetches these records, and the site will not build if any citation fails to resolve against the fetched data. Each monograph shows the date its data was fetched. See data sources.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, price, rate or link to products or vendors.
- We do not give dosing advice. Doses appear only as a record of what clinical trials tested.
- We do not publish testimonials, reviews or star ratings.
The name
A residue is a single amino acid within a peptide chain — the unit every sequence on this site is drawn in. It is also what remains once the noise is boiled off.
