Studies this site relies on

Ordered by strength of design. Conclusions are quoted verbatim from each abstract as indexed by PubMed; read the full paper before relying on any of them.

  1. Phase 2 trial Int J Colorectal Dis · 2014 PMID 25331030

Prospective, randomized, controlled, proof-of-concept study of the Ghrelin mimetic ipamorelin for the management of postoperative ileus in bowel resection patients

Beck DE, Sweeney WB, McCarter MD, et al.

Ipamorelin 0.03-mg/kg twice daily for up to 7 days was well tolerated. There were no significant differences between ipamorelin and placebo in the key and secondary efficacy analyses.

  2. Primary study J Pharmacol Exp Ther · 2009 PMID 19289567

Efficacy of ipamorelin, a novel ghrelin mimetic, in a rodent model of postoperative ileus

Venkova K, Mann W, Nelson R, et al.

In contrast, repetitive dosing of ipamorelin (0.1 or 1 mg/kg) significantly increased the cumulative fecal pellet output, food intake, and body weight gain. The results suggest that postsurgical intravenous infusions of ipamorelin may ameliorate the symptoms in patients with POI.

  3. Primary study Growth Horm IGF Res · 1999 PMID 10373343

Ipamorelin, a new growth-hormone-releasing peptide, induces longitudinal bone growth in rats

Johansen PB, Nowak J, Skjaerbaek C, et al.

The pituitary GH content was unchanged by ipamorelin treatment. Whether ipamorelin or other GH secretagogues may have a place in the treatment of children with growth retardation requires demonstration in future clinical studies.

  4. Primary study Eur J Endocrinol · 1998 PMID 9849822

Ipamorelin, the first selective growth hormone secretagogue

Raun K, Hansen BS, Johansen NL, et al.

In conclusion, ipamorelin is the first GHRP-receptor agonist with a selectivity for GH release similar to that displayed by GHRH. The specificity of ipamorelin makes this compound a very interesting candidate for future clinical development.

Clinical-trial publications in PubMed
